Why san clemente is the perfect home base our freelance business

For the past year, we’ve built a business we love. Through it all, San Clemente has been our home base.

As a full-time freelancer and with Tucker still joining in on freelance projects outside his upcoming role at Kondor Blue, we’ve been reflecting on what makes this little coastal town so perfect for our creative life.

Why San Clemente?

There’s something about this town that just clicks with who we are. The small-town feel, the surf culture, and the fact that you can sneak down to the beach for a quick swim or sunset watch after a full day of editing.

We love starting our mornings working remotely at Sur Coffee! The warm weather year-round does wonders for our mental health and keeps us grounded even when the calendar’s packed.

It’s also one of the few places where you can realistically take a beach run on your lunch break, grab tacos for dinner, and walk just about everywhere. There’s a simplicity to life here that feels rare and it’s made San Clemente feel special to us.

Plus, being so close to Temecula vineyards and tons of Orange County venues means we can jump between city, coast, and mountains without ever being too far from home.

The Freedom of Freelance Life

Freelancing has given us the freedom to choose the stories we believe in. From filming a documentary about pro pickleball players to working with non-profits doing trauma therapy in the wilderness, to capturing wedding days for couples who genuinely feel like old friends it truly is the kind of work that matters to us.

It’s also let us build a schedule around what we love. While Tucker is stepping into a new season with Kondor Blue this fall, we’ll both continue freelancing on the side, chasing the projects that fire us up.

How It’s Shaped Wyld Story

Being rooted in San Clemente has shaped the way we tell stories. The laid-back vibe, the creative community here, and the balance of work and play have made us better storytellers, partners, and business owners.

What’s Ahead

As we step into this next chapter, Wyld Story isn’t slowing down. We’re still booking weddings (we’re a preferred wedding vendor in Idyllwild and Altisima Winery in Temecula and have dates open for fall and 2026), filming brand stories, traveling for commercial projects, and saying yes to stories that mean something.

If you’ve got a story to tell for your wedding day, your business launch, or a travel adventure, let’s grab a coffee at Sur and connect!

San Clemente will always be home. And we’ll always be chasing the next Wyld story.
