Joshua Wilderness Promo
About The Project
Joshua Wilderness Institute
Promo Film for Hume Lake Christian Camps
Joshua Wilderness Institute is Hume Lake’s nine-month discipleship and leadership program for young adults. It’s an intentional season set apart—where students focus on deepening their faith, building lifelong community, and growing as leaders grounded in God’s Word. Through structured academics, service opportunities, wilderness experiences, and a commitment to living simply, Joshua challenges participants to know Christ more deeply and live with purpose.
In 2019, Wyld Story was invited to create a film that captured the essence of this transformative program. It’s one of the first promo films we ever made, and while it may lack the polish we’ve developed over time, it still reflects what has always been at the heart of our work: people and their stories.
Over the course of an entire Joshua year, we filmed students as they engaged in every aspect of the program—classroom learning, discipleship groups, hard work, shared meals, and life in community. We also documented their adventures in the backcountry and the moments of quiet reflection that are so much a part of the Joshua rhythm. Every frame tells a story of young adults stepping away from distractions to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus and a clearer understanding of their calling.
The edit took about two weeks to complete, weaving together a story that invites future students to see what life at Joshua is all about—discipline, simplicity, growth, and a community that’s centered on Christ.
Looking back, this project represents the beginning of Wyld Story. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do: to tell stories that matter.
